Which Foam Roller should I choose?
Traditional stretching techniques simply cause increases in muscle length but self-myofascial release (SMR) on the foam roller offers these benefits and also breaks down soft tissue adhesion.
Escape fitness offers 3 types of foam roller:
Full Round Foam Roller (Soft):
The RBK Reebok full round foam roller are excellent for beginners and older clients as their construction allows a certain degree of "give".
The foam roller are made from synthetic foam throughout with a non-slip surface which is very easy to clean.
The foam roller are designed for self massage and alignment and the foam roller are available in short of full lengths
Full Round Foam Roller (Firm)
The firm full foam roller is made from polyurethane and has been developed for users who require a deeper level of massage as they have a harder construction.
The full firm foam roller is a progression from the soft foam roller as users become more experienced.
Half Round Foam Roller (Soft):
The RBK half round foam roller are ideal for balance and stabilisation training.
Their construction is the same as the RBK Reebok soft full foam roller making them suitable for beginners and older clients. The foam roller are also available in short or full length.
Just note that like stretching, the use of a foam roller is something that needs to be incorporated into your exercise programme on a regular basis to yield results.

Which Stability Ball should I choose?
Primarily, there are 2 things to consider; how tall are you and what are you going to do with it.
What Size Do I Need?
Your height is a very good guide to the size of ball that you will need as follows:
Up to 5' 2" (157cm) or under – 45cm
5' 3" – 5' 8" (160cm – 172cm) – 55cm
5' 9" – 6' 2" (175cm – 188cm) – 65cm
Above 6' 3" (188cm) – 75cm
Which Type Of Ball Do I Need?
Escape Fitness Offer 3 types of ball: Reebok Studio Ball, AOK Dura Ball Pro and The Max Ball.
The Reebok Ball are available in 3 sizes (55, 65 & 75cm) and made from durable anti-burst foam PVC It is ideal for studio, group and personal training studios.
The AOK Dura Ball is recommended by Paul Chek and are available in 4 sizes (45, 55, 65 & 75cm). The Dura Ball has a burst resistance of 500kg and retains its spherical form and small base of support enhancing the body's stabilisation responses. Its tough construction means it resists deformation under heavy loads which stimulates prioceptive & sensory pathways throughout the entire range of motion.
The AOK Max Ball is designed for heavy duty free-weight training in a commercial environment as it maintains its shape even under the heaviest loads. It has a burst resistance of 750kg and are available in 2 sizes (55 & 65cm). They were independently tested and developed in conjunction with the University of Newcastle, Australia. The AOK Max Ball has a dimpled, non-slip surface which prevents the ball from moving when using heavy weights. Its construction means that it retains its spherical shape and small base of support enhancing the body's stabilisation responses.
Why Should I Choose An AOK Ball?
AOK commenced its Gymball development and testing programme in 1996. Testing protocols have been developed which are considered the best in the world for inflatable PVC products. As a result of this work the MaxBall™ and DuraBall™ were introduced. These products have been tested to ensure product consistency and have variously supported static loads well in excess of 4,000kg with burst-resistance to a load of 500kg. This does not mean the ball is “puncture proof” but it does provide protection from explosive deflation. Burst resistance means AOK Gymballs are designed to take a minumum of 30 seconds to deflate if accidentally punctured.
Every ball made is pre-inflated and tested, this ensures exceptionally low numbers of faulty balls. Over the past 5 years AOK have had a return rate of less than 0.2%
Why Do I Need A Gymball With A Burst Resistance Of Over 500kg
When sitting on any gymball, the impact of the user's weight is far greater than their actual body-weight. This is called impact loading. This can easily be up to two and half times their body-weight, so for an 80kg person using a pair of 10kg dumbbells, the impact load could easily exceed 250kg.
How Often Do I Need To Change My Stability Ball?
While AOK Balls are very hard wearing they may be weakened or damaged by kicking or bouncing. Do not use a ball that shows visible signs of damage to the outer surface. Always check the surface of the ball regularly. If using a ball in a commercial environment, for optimum performance, we recommend they are replaced regularly.
